Under the guidance of the Gymnastics Director, the Gymnastics Instructor teaches the gymnastics classes. The instructor is responsible for planning, organizing, and documenting each lesson.
Typical Physical Demands Requires individual to perform a range of dance movements relative to the classes. Requires full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. Requires corrected vision, speech, and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Ability to lift 30 pounds, bending reaching, and kneeling to execute routines and/or utilize equipment.
Typical Working Conditions Gymnastics Center, Dance Studio
Organize, plan, and execute all activities for enrolled children.
Prepare for special program presentations.
Monitor the area at all times to ensure safety, and immediately make changes as necessary.
Provide a positive environment for all participants, and actively encourages participation to ensure growth and development.
Exemplifies appropriate behavior and is a role model for participants; actively listen to all children and show patience, understanding, and respect for others.
Instruct and guide participants through the rules of the program and ensure adherence;
Immediately report all unusual incidents or accidents to the Gymnastics Director, and fill out all applicable and necessary reports.
Record daily attendance and maintain accurate and complete records.
Ensure the classroom is neat, orderly and free of all safety impediments.
Develop and foster interpersonal relationships between participants, and is pro-active creating an environment of cooperation, friendliness, and helpfulness towards staff and customers.
Develop and maintains age appropriate activities.
Ensures all necessary supplies are on hand and well maintained at all times.
Attend scheduled staff meetings.

Experience/Performance Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
Prior experience working with children
Knowledge and understanding regarding the YMCA of USA’s and USAG guidelines, policies, and recommendations.
Enthusiasm for the sport of gymnastics and children.
Ability to adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
